Spring checklist before longer drives

Before the season starts, it is worth checking tyres, fluids, brakes, battery and wipers to avoid simple but annoying problems.

Spring is a good time for a quick condition check on the car. Winter leaves its mark on components and smaller issues often show up right when longer drives begin again.

Check tyre condition and pressures. Make sure the brakes work evenly and that fluid levels are correct. Washer fluid, engine oil and coolant are the most common items worth checking before heading out.

Do not forget the battery and wipers. A weak battery may show itself through slow starting, and worn wipers ruin visibility just when road conditions begin to change.

If all of this is in order, spring driving will be much more relaxed. If you notice anything questionable, it is smarter to deal with it early rather than wait for it to grow into a larger issue.
